The HP LTO Ultrium Data Cartridge features active internal head cleaning, self-diagnostic capabilities, cartridge memory, long life and superior reliability. HP LTO 4 Ultrium offers native AES-256-bit key encryption to help ensure your data is protected. The base film and coating technology have increased the bit density of the media, allowing more data to be kept in the same physical space. The data cartridge can hold 896 data tracks with a capacity of up to 1.6 TB on a tape (compressed). With a transfer rate of 240 MB per second, it takes just 8.3 seconds to recover 1GB of data from an Ultrium 4 cartridge. The data cartridge provides 30 years of archival storage and 1,000,000 fits in any area of tape, allowing more than 20,000 end-to-end passes or 260 full backups.
