My daughter and I had a good time assembling it.I finally did this kit today. It’s awesome for what it’s supposed to be. I screwed up with a couple of steps because I’m a newb, but was able to fix it with the tools I had on hand. Even by the end of this basic kit I was becoming more familiar with soldering and the joints I soldered were getting better. The first step, soldering the motor leads was a prolly the toughest, since the wires are so fine and there isn’t a lot of stripped wire to work with. But, even with my mistakes the thing works. I scored this as a 5 for giftable, but it does require stuff…like a soldering gun, solder, and the other sorts of things you need for that. A helping hand or the little wiry alligator clip thingies that hold stuff for you is also a big help. Love this!I bought this for my nine-year-old son who's into various STEM activities. Since he's only nine and has never used a soldering iron before, I definitely needed to help him. Plus, you sort of need three hands anyway to hold the iron, the solder, and the jitterbug itself. So it was about 10 minutes of good father/son time while we soldered all the points (about 15 total). It sort of works; the on/off switch is a bit sensitive and we're going to try resoldering some of the points to see if it will work better. But this is one of those projects where the end result sits on a shelf until it's thrown out a few months later. Ask yourself if $15 for a 10-minute project is worth it.I would suggest the jitterbug for a slightly older kid, maybe early teens, who can work on this independently. I think it would make for a more satisfying build if it's an entirely solo effort.Incredibly clear instructions and very nicely labeled and sorted. Anyone looking to brush up on soldering or looking for a fun project will for sure enjoy! The Jitterbug kit was a great introduction to soldering for my little brother who will be turning 10. Just a few components to assemble makes a perfect learning opportunity. We swapped out the red LEDs for some green ones I had around bearing in mind the forward voltage. The PDF instructions were easy enough for him to follow, though he had pointed out a few typos. The price point makes this a 4 star rating as there are dozens of other DIY kits for less than this.Overall the product provided a fun project to do together and I would recommend for anybody showing interest in soldering.Great kit for beginners or kids wanting to learn! This was a fun kit that I built with my daughter to teach her about soldering. The instructions were easy to follow and the components seemed to be high quality. This was a quick and easy beginners project it takes some fine tuning but this this does move around pretty evenly on moat surfaces.
