Steve Sandler's new book, Power Integrity, is a great practical summary of measuring instruments, probes, accessories and measurement practices aimed for power distribution testing. The book is illustrated with many color photos and screen captures as well as with data sheet excerpts, which first may convey the feeling that you re looking at an extended marketing brochure. However, at a more closer look the reader will realize that this is a valuable reference book for practicing engineers and technicians, summarizing the state of the art in power distribution tests. As an engineer designing and testing power distribution networks myself, I especially like the variety of test methods covered in the book. The main focus is on active devices and circuits, and control loops of linear and switching power converters. The reader will find several topics, such as reverse transfer and crosstalk (Chapter 10), which should be a must-to-read for all designers of high-quality power distribution networks. As we all strive for higher power density and smaller, cheaper circuits, more and more designs will face significant practical challenges unless these items are looked into very carefully.
