I'm dumbfound. I limped on with an outdoor shotgun microphone and EQ for voice-over for a month before finally giving up. I bought sE X1SVP at full price and Audio Technica AT2035 which was off 30% during the prime day. I tried X1S and didn't even open AT2035. There was no point; X1S was so good, there was no point trying AT2035. I have a muffled voice which is not too intelligible, and even the cut-off at flat position sounded so good. With cut-off at 160Hz, I sounded clearer, but a bit nasal. I think I'll stick to cut-off at 80Hz and then switch to flat when I improve my speech a bit. I just love the firm low coming out of this mic without being muffled. I'm glad I didn't go for SM85 that everybody says is the gold standard for voice, or any of those podcast microphones.AT2035 at $94 is total steal, but it's going back. Sorry, Audio Technica. And, oh, don't worry about condenser mic picking up background noise or reverberation. I tried it in the kitchen with no room treatment at all obviously, and it sounded just fine with mic 6" away from my mouth.
